100% H2 Burner

Revolutionary Sermeta technology: the surface combustion burner.
As part of its commitment to continuous innovation, Sermeta considers hydrogen to be a promising energy source.
Hydrogen
Hydrogen (H), the simplest, lightest and most abundant element on Earth, forms a molecule made up of two atoms (H2). Colourless, odourless and non-toxic, it is an extremely powerful source of energy, delivering 33 kWh/kg, 2.5 times more than natural gas.
From an eco-responsible perspective, it is recommended to favour green hydrogen, which is produced from renewable electricity using water electrolysis or by reforming biogas derived from waste treatment or biomass.
This hydrogen can then be injected into the gas network, helping to reduce CO and CO2 emissions. Injection into the French grid is currently limited to 6%.
Hydrogen combustion
One of the great benefits of hydrogen combustion is its environmental impact: it generates no greenhouse gases, particles or other pollutants, only heat and steam.
To harness this energy for water heating applications using a condensing boiler, it is essential to master the use of hydrogen, as its physical and thermal properties differ considerably from those of natural gas.
Sermeta's 100% H2 burner
After several years of research, a new burner concept was created, running on hydrogen, offering a wide modulation range and guaranteeing maximum safety of use.
This new concept was tested and proven on a special test bench designed and built by Sermeta with the support of the Brittany Region. This innovation has been patented as a surface-combustion, explosion-proof and detonation-proof hydrogen burner.
This innovative concept, which produces no CO2 emissions, separates the air and hydrogen supplies, limiting the volume of the air/gas mixture at the combustion surface, which eliminates the risks of flashback and auto-ignition.
